Follow-up Activities and Learning Summary
Next steps for experienced service providers who are completing the 2015-16 Competency: Addressing Social and Emotional Development:
- Materials and online submission form are available below.
- Review the completed ASQ-SE2 questionnaire and compute the score. Use the online form to submit your response to the questions (list of questions is posted for download if desired).
- Select 1 family you work with and over the next 6 weeks, implement Tier 1 promotion strategies to help the parent/caretaker support their infant's or toddler's social emotional development. Use up to three of the following research-based practices per family:
- support parents/caregivers to develop skills for responsive interactions with infants and toddlers (responsive interactions)
- help parents/caregivers structure their environments to support infants' and toddlers' regulated behavior (structure environment)
- provide evidence-based strategies for infant's or toddler's individualized social emotional needs (individualized activities)
To ensure that your suggestions/recommendations are evidence-based, use the Activity Sheets included in the ASQ: SE-2 (use developmentally appropriate range), or consult other evidence-based resources provided in the workshop:
