Duties and Responsibilities: This student will be responsible for supervising the childcare room at the David Farber ASPIRE Center, Jefferson’s new suicide prevention center. The childcare room is offered to patients of the ASPIRE center who are parents of children (ages 4-12) who may need childcare during their appointment. This student will be responsible for following policies and protocols for the childcare room and providing a safe place for the youth who are in the childcare room. In addition to supervising the childcare room, this student will have an opportunity to be involved in the numerous statewide and federal grants and initiatives that take place at the David Farber ASPIRE Center. This includes statewide projects focused on continuity of care for youth and adults at risk for suicide. Other projects include building statewide capacity to respond to 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, as well as working with state and community partners to prepare for implementation of a new national crisis response system. This individual will have opportunities to contribute to outreach materials stemming from the David Farber ASPIRE Center. PA Child Abuse clearance is required. Staff at the David Farber ASPIRE Center will assist with this process. CPR training is required. Students who do not already have this can still apply and complete during orientation. Assigned duties: supervise childcare room, assist with programs local and statewide programs related to suicide prevention such as youth PSA contest, statewide conference, Medical school events at Jefferson, and assist with outreach and programming as they arise.
