Thyroid Cancer 2009: Advances in the Diagnosis & Treatment of Thyroid Nodular Disease and Cancer

Thyroid Cancer 2009: Advances in the Diagnosis & Treatment of Thyroid Nodular Disease and Cancer
On behalf of the Kimmel Cancer Center, the Division of Endocrinology and the Department of Otolaryngology at Thomas Jefferson University, we invite you to attend Thyroid Cancer 2009, our second biennial thyroid symposium on advances in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid nodular disease and cancer. The conference will take place on October 30, 2009, and will be held in the Bluemle Life Sciences Building on the campus of Thomas Jefferson University.

This year, participants will again have the unique opportunity to witness experts deliberate and debate how they would manage patients suspected of having thyroid cancer. This active learning format features critical deliberations regarding patient cases, clinical findings, differential diagnoses and management plan options presenting in the office of the Otolaryngologist, Endocrinologist, Surgeon and other healthcare professionals. Experts will challenge each others’ decisions, and, in the process, expose the explicit analyses that lies behind expert patient care. Participants will examine cases from multiple perspectives, and gain in-depth understanding to how experienced healthcare providers approach difficult patient care decisions. Keynotes from leading practitioners provide evidence for care decisions discussed in panels.

The combined format of live debate and didactic presentations will allow participants to observe and question faculty practitioners as they deal with real patient problems, and demonstrate how to apply new information and evidence based guidelines into their practices. This course will evaluate the recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to Thyroid Nodular Disease and Cancer that have altered traditional management paradigms. The latest evidence-based guidelines from the American Thyroid Association regarding Thyroid Cancer will be reviewed and practitioners will be provided with an array of contemporary management elements with which to approach patients with Thyroid Nodular Disease and Cancer.

We look forward to seeing you at this outstanding educational event and invite you to review the course brochure.
