JCIPE's Connect4Change Mini-Grants Call for Proposals NOW OPEN
Jefferson InterProfessional Education Center (JCIPE) announces this call for proposals for "Connect4Change- Fostering Interprofessional Education". These mini-grants will provide pilot support for innovative Interprofessional education projects. Proposals must address one or more of the following areas:
- New or Expanded Interprofessional Education - developing, implementing and evaluating interprofessional curriculum for students, faculty and/or professionals.
- Development or Enhancement of Interprofessional Care - creating and evaluating interprofessional education within a healthcare practice setting.
- Novel Evaluation Strategies for Existing Interprofessional Education

Learning to Work Together
Effective nurse-physician collaboration is rooted in mutual respect and positive dialogue. This may sound like a simple, easily achievable goal, yet dissatisfaction among nurses (and physicians) remains common.
In an effort to improve interdisciplinary communication and interaction, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia recently established the Jefferson InterProfessional Education Center (JCIPE), which is dedicated to improving patient care through coordination, implementation, and evaluation of a team-based curriculum. Patients Teach Students in Health Mentors Program
The goal of the mentoring program is to improve patient care by fostering interaction and respect across disciplines, as well as improving the students’ understanding of the needs and lifestyle challenges of a patient living with a chronic disease.
The Jefferson InterProfessional Education Center (JCIPE) recently wrapped up its first year of the two-year Health Mentors Program that pairs a chronically ill patient with a team of students from various disciplines -- two medical students, a nursing student and an occupational or physical therapy student. The goal of the mentoring program is to improve patient care by fostering interaction and respect across disciplines, as well as improving the students' understanding of the needs and lifestyle challenges of a patient living with a chronic disease.
