As we continuously strive to make the library collections accessible and pertinent, librarians are reviewing some of the older 4th floor books for withdrawal. These are medical books with older Dewey Decimal call numbers, and they are currently on shelves on the 11th street end of the 4th floor. The publication dates range from the early 20th century to about the mid 1960′s.
During our review, we are identifying seminal works, books by important authors, local authors, or that have some other local interest, and a range of subjects important to the curricula here at Jefferson. Many items are being moved to archives storage for integration into the Special Collections. Books that will be retained in the 4th floor stacks will be reclassified according to National Library of Medicine guidelines and integrated into the general collection. Items identified for discard will be sent to a recycling facility.
