AISR Staff DirectoryKaren Krasznavolgyi, MLSKaren Krasznavolgyi is the Information Services Senior Librarian. She is responsible for the training and scheduling of reference desk staff and search services and coordinates the Grants Information Service. Contact Karen for:
Interests and ExpertiseKaren is an expert searcher of many medical and scientific databases, having served over 15 years as an information scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. If you need help with a complex search or new information gathering project, Karen is eager to help you formulate a search strategy or conduct the search for you, if you prefer. Background & TrainingKaren earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA in Biology and German, which included a year abroad at the Philipps-Universität in Marburg, Germany. Karen was introduced to the information profession while employed at Biosis (Biological Abstracts) in Philadelphia, which encouraged her to start library studies at Drexel University. After only 2 semesters, however, she was promptly hired at Merck & Co., finished library & information studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and enjoyed a long and fruitful career in the pharmaceutical industry, working for Merck, Dupont Pharma, and Johnson & Johnson. Karen came to Scott Library in November 2005 and is looking forward to applying her pharmaceutical information skills to the community at Jefferson! Professional ActivitiesKaren is active in the Special Libraries Association (SLA) in the Pharmaceutical and Information Technology Divisions and local Philadelphia Chapter programs. She is also a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA), where she had served as a Continuing Education Committee member. Personal InterestsA resident of Delaware, Karen enjoys singing in various venues, such as the Delaware Valley Chorale and as cantor at church. Karen loves dabbling in several foreign languages but is fluent in German and grew up with both English and Hungarian. Europe in a favorite travel destination. |
