Faculty & Staff Email Accounts

Getting an Account

Three email systems serve the Jefferson community. All offer Web access from off-campus sites, as well as client access from your office desktop.

• TJU Hospital staff, residents and fellows receive either OpenMail or JeffNet accounts from the Information Systems (IS) department. The OpenMail service is being phased out in favor of JeffNet.
  
  
  • OpenMail accounts = mail.tju.edu. JeffNet accounts = jeffersonhospital.org
  • Apply for a Hospital email account
  • Learn more about the OpenMail system
  • OpenMail accounts use your name as both address and login (example: Samuel.Gross@mail.tju.edu)
    
    
• University faculty and staff receive JeffMail accounts from the Jefferson Information Technologies (Jeff-IT) department.
  
  
  • JeffMail accounts = jefferson.edu
  • JeffMail accounts are set up automatically at the time you are hired. You may store up to 200MB of email in your account.
  • Access your account with your Jefferson Campus Key: Find your Campus Key
  • Test your access now
  • JeffMail accounts use your Campus Key to login (example: sdg001), and your name as your address (Samuel.Gross@jefferson.edu)

Email Client Software

Use any of these email client programs to access your OpenMail or JeffMail account:

Recommended & Supported

• HP OpenMail Client (supported by TJUH IS)
• Microsoft Outlook for JeffMail (supported by Jeff-IT). A configuraton tutorials is available.

Not Recommended or Supported, But Available

• Netscape Email Client -- if you are running Netscape, you already have a built-in email client.
• Eudora Light -- look here for help in configuring Eudora for OpenMail.
• Microsoft Outlook Express -- no longer supported by Jeff-IT, but configuration tutorials still available.

Support

Help for using Jefferson email accounts is available from several sources:

• Online tips, FAQs, and setup information is available for the OpenMail system and for JeffMail.
• Call the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at 215-503-7975 for assistance with getting an account, access problems, or quota problems.
• Contact the Learning Resources Center in 306 Scott Library (215-503-8407, or send email to LRC@lists.jefferson.edu) for help with attachments, deleting & purging, and other application functions.

Jefferson's policy covers computers, email, and other forms of electronic communication.

It applies to ALL faculty and staff.
