iPad Support at Academic & Instructional Support & Resources (AISR)

iPad

Summer 2011 marked the introduction of tablet technology for teaching and learning to Jefferson students. The 100+ members of the FACT program in the School of Nursing were the first to adopt all-electronic textbooks, iPads, and iPad apps for their courses.

Using their iPads, students can respond to questions asked in their classes, take exams, consult course books, and access their Blackboard-based course materials. Read all about it in the 2011/2012 issue of AISR Connections.

iPad Accessories & Study Aids

  • Check out wireless keyboards from the Scott Library Circulation Desk (2nd floor) or the JAH LRC.
  • Need a larger monitor for group study? Check out the connecting cables from either the Circulation Desk or the JAH LRC. You'll find large monitors:
    • at 2 of the group study tables in the 2nd floor Scott group study area, or
    • 1 monitor in the JAH LRC.
  • Battery running low? Either the Circulation Desk or the JAH LRC will lend you a batter charger for use onsite.
  • Need a demonstration of iPad capabilities or consultation about your teaching needs? Contact Tony Frisby, PhD, Director of AISR Education Services (tony.frisby@jefferson.edu or 215-503-4990).

Campus Wireless Access

Jeff-IT provides wireless access points for the student network (wireless100) on all four floors of Scott Memorial Library, in the Jefferson Alumni Hall LRC and Open Access Classroom, and other campus locations. (See the map of availability.)

Wireless accounts are required for access, but are free to Jeffersonians. Wireless accounts are managed by Jeff-IT.

Currently, the wireless service offers access to the Internet and other open applications such as JeffShare, JeffCal and JeffMail. Instant messaging (AIM, ICQ, MSN Instant Messenger), Telnet, SSH and FTP are also supported.

Applications on the secure University network are accessible ONLY if you have Remote Access Portal privileges; the wireless network is part of the separate Academic & Research Network (ARN). Download the Jeff-IT wireless brochure for further information.

Jeff-IT also offers a set of FAQs for wireless.
