EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT:
President
University of Pennsylvania’s Student Council President want to have a social event with the student council members from Jefferson and UPenn. Currently the Renee Tholey and the U Penn president are looking for ideas for the event; two suggestions so far are a bar mixer or a field day.

There have been an increasing number of complaints from the class about note not being posted on time.

DEAN'S REPORT: Dr. Lopez
The very first lecture in the new Hamilton Building was held on October 19th 1:00pm.
Dr. Lopez also reminded the second years about Career Counseling – this could helpful to discuss some topics about Step 1 such as how to begin preparing and what it means.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE (Rebecca Chiffer):
As of 10/16/2007 Jefferson received a total of 7924 applications. This is an increases from last year’s total of 6480 applications. Of the total applications, 104 are MD/PHD, 0 EDP, and 1121 Reapps. Currently, the total offered positions is at 38 – this is an increased from last year’s 7 offered positions. Of the total offered, 21 are females, 5 DIMERS, 4 Alumni, and 4 minority.
AFFILIATIONS COMMITTEE (Ikumi Suzuki, Kristen Kelly):

ALUMNI COMMITTEE (Steven Krawitz, Gilbert Kim):
Nothing to report
RESEARCH COMMITTEE (Krystle Wang, Harriet Eldrege, Lauren May, Justin Wei):
Just gave the 1st year class the “Why do research” talk. Also sent out surveys to upper classmen who were involved in research to gather some information – the results of the survey will be presented later.
CURRICULUM COMMITTEE (Mae West, Doug Corwin):
Last years class received the second highest board score average at Jefferson.
STUDENT AFFAIRS (Jennifer Koterwas, Deana Guzzi)
Nothing to Report
TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE (Adnaan Moin):
Nothing to report.
ATIVITIES OFFICE ADVISORY BOARD (Renee Szumski):
The Fall Fling event took place October 19th. Future activities currently in the planning are Wine Tasting in November and an Etiquette Dinner.
Susanne Freidman also made a reminder to organization to apply for funding from the activities office.
COMMONS BOARD (Justin Brothers)
The Gym which has been closed due to renovations will be opening next week.
CLASS REPORTS:
Class of 2008:
Currently on the 3rd week of the 4th block. The interview seasons has already started. All the 4th years are supposed remember to review their dean’s letters.
Class of 2009:
3rd week of Block 3
Class of 2010:
Currently on block 2 – IID and planning on a joint post exam with the 1st years.
Class of 2011:
Currently on week 10 of Block 1 - HFD
NEW BUSINESS:
- Amaris Miller – Conference Funding Request - $400 (this includes both Amaris and Andrew for the Global Missions Health Conference)
- Andrew Archual – Conference Funding Request
- Amaris and Andrew came to request money for the same conference for which the attendance would be 11 Jefferson Students
- A new cap was voted on for conference funding as a result:
- 0-4 students = up to $200
- 5-9 student = up to $300
- 10+ students = up to $400
- Abhik Roy – New Club Approve
The Jefferson Floor Hockey League was approved as a new organization and awarded $100
- Jeanine Spielberger – 2 Conference Funding Requests
- National AMA Conference; 7 students; awarded $300
- Pennsylvania Medical Society Meeting; 11 students; awarded $400
- Brian Ostick – Conference Presentation for the Northeast Wilderness Medicine Conference ($200)
