EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT:
President
Nothing to Report.
Vice President
Announcements about the upcoming executive board elections were made over the past two weeks via email and in the 1st and 2nd year classes. Traditionally, the positions of President and Vice President are filled by a 2nd or 3rd year student. The positions of Secretary and Treasurer may be filled by a 1st, 2nd or 3rd year student. Nominations will be held from now until the November 15th Student Council meeting. Please send any nominations or questions to Jason.Walls@jefferson.edu. All nominees will be asked to submit a paragraph about why they are running for the position of their choice. Elections will be held before Thanksgiving. Current nominees are: President- Renee Tholey, Vice President- Ravi Patel, Secretary- Rajan Singla, Treasurer- Still empty!

DEAN'S REPORT: Dr. DeSimone
- The Office of Student Affairs is looking into providing students with more Bike Racks outside of JAH.
- Completion of the new building has been slightly delayed and will not be opened until November 2007.
- The Commons; however, will be finished in 2-3 weeks!
- Dr. K. DeSimone and Dr. B. Lopez are looking into when to have Career Planning Talks. For 1st Years, this will be a discussion about what to expect during 2nd year and for 2nd Years, this will provide an overview of Step 1 and 3rd Year.
- 4th Year Students- On Wednesday, October 25th there will be an Interview Skills Session at 6:00pm in Foerderer Hall. Program directors will be there to answer questions and to give students the “Dos and Don’ts” of interviewing.
- 4th Year Students- the Office of Student Affairs is asking 30-35 students to volunteer for a workshop to provide the OSA with feedback about how helpful they were/how they can improve assisting students with the residency application process. If you are interested, please email Dr. Pohl.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE (Daron Kahn):
In January 2007, the MCAT will be computerized. It will be available 7 times during the year and at multiple times during testing days.
AFFILIATIONS COMMITTEE (Michael Fishman, Arayel Osborne):
Nothing to Report.
ALUMNI COMMITTEE (Marylee Dilling, Gilbert Kim):
Alumni Weekend went well and provided alumni with tours of the Clinical Skills Center, etc.
Joan Regan is recruiting 2nd Year Students (other years are welcome too) for the Phone-a-Thon on October 24 and 25.
Career Day will be on December 6. As of now, 80% of the specialties have been filled, including several specialties that did not participate last year.
RESEARCH COMMITTEE (Alex Mericli, Jason Bessey, Leslie Moroz, Irene Yang):
The committee is planning to set up lectures in the future.
CURRICULUM COMMITTEE (Jessica Crocker, Jake Dahl):

STUDENT AFFAIRS (Kristen Scully, Emily Abramson)
Healthcare Leaders of Tomorrow was approved as a new organization.
TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE (Steven Presciutti):
Nothing to Report.
CLASS REPORTS:
Class of 2007:
Almost the entire class has submitted their applications.
Class of 2008:
Middle of Block 3.
Kimmy Pringle sent out and email survey to the 3rd Year Class. As of last week, 62% of the class still did not have their Block 1 grades. Dr. Wolfson is working to rectify the situation.
Class of 2009:
Middle of Block 2- IID.
Class of 2010:
Anatomy Final is this Friday, 10/20.
NEW BUSINESS:
- AMA requested conference funding to attend the upcoming state meeting in Hershey, PA on October 20. At the meeting, the Pennsylvania medical schools caucus to elect new officers and vote on resolutions on health policy issues. Our AMA members have a large group attending to represent the strength of the Jefferson chapter and are hoping to get some of our students elected to state positions. AMA was awarded $200.
- SNMA was awarded $100 to support the showing of the movie Bioterrorism (the third microbiology movie that the IID class will be viewing this year). The movie will be publicized so that all students can attend, not just 2nd Year students.
- Mia Minen was awarded $200 to attend the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting.
- Josh Sleeper was awarded $200 to attend the Mid-Atlantic American Urological Association meeting. He will be presenting his research on renal masses.
- Healthcare Leaders of Tomorrow has been approved as a new organization. The purpose of the organization is to promote leadership skills and opportunities for future physicians in the MD/MBA program. However, all students are welcome to join and participate.
