Document Delivery Services

Loansome Doc - Document Ordering From PubMed

Loansome Doc is a document ordering feature of PubMed that enables you to order articles directly from a literature search. Jefferson faculty members, students, employees, and alumni are eligible to participate. Participation requires a simple two-step registration with Scott Memorial Library and the National Library of Medicine.

Automated Requests: How It Works

While reviewing citations from your PubMed search, tag the article(s) you wish to order. Use the handy PubMed Send To Order button to automatically forward your request to Scott Memorial Library (see our user's guide).

  • If the item(s) requested is in our collection, we will provide it and notify you via email within 24 hours of the time we receive your request (Monday through Friday).
  • Articles not owned by the library will be submitted to our interlibrary loan department and filled, typically within 2 - 5 business days [sorry, alumni are not eligible for interlibrary loan service]. You don't need to complete any forms, and you don't have to determine whether the Library owns the material.

Two-Step Registration

  1. Complete our online registration form, indicating your preferred method of payment, delivery method, and TJU affiliation. Choose one payment method to use with all your Loansome Doc orders. To pay with a different method, either use the standard ILL or JEFFDocs order forms or contact the Interlibrary Loan Department at 215-503-2831.

Note that online delivery requires payment by interdepartmental charge code (IDC) or prepayment.

Once complete, we will review your application and notify you by email with confirmation and a password for completing the second step of the registration process. You should receive your confirmation within 24 hours of your request (Monday through Friday).

  2. After you receive your confirmation and password from Scott Library, create your personal account with the National Library of Medicine. You will select your own login and password for signing in to the Loansome Doc system.  Note that you may have Loansome Doc accounts with more than one library or provider.

Once your registration is complete, you may begin using Loansome Doc via PubMed immediately.
