Biographical Note
Dr. Hawley was born 4 April 1901. He attended Holy Cross College, St. Patrick's Academy, and received his AB in 1923 from Holy Cross College.* He graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1932 and was licensed in Pennsylvania the same year. While practicing family medicine, he also specialized in anesthesiology. He was a member of the American Medical Association. By the 1950s, Dr. Hawley was also a member of the American Anesthesiologist Association. He died 23 March 1991 in Binghamton, Broome, NY.**

Scope and Contents
This collection consists of notebooks (1927-1931) written by Dr. Hawley during his time as a student at Jefferson Medical College. The collection also contains other notebooks used by Dr. Hawley, but written by others. Topics documented by the notebooks include: chemistry, ethics, histology, obstetrics and pathology.
