Societies and Guidelines

  • American College of Radiology (ACR)
    This professional society's site includes information on standards and accreditation and a calendar of events.
  • American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM)
    Membership is open to physicians, scientists, engineers, veterinarians, sonographers, technicians, manufacturers, manufacturers' representatives, and medical students. AIUM provides information on annual conventions, educational courses, publications,and videotapes.
  • Guidelines for the Performance of Ultrasound Examination in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SOGC)
    This index of policy statements prepared by the Diagnostic Imaging Committee of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada requires the free Adobe Acrobat reader. Many other documents are included at the Society's site.
  • Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)
    A professional society composed of radiologists and scientists in fields closely related to radiology. The society hosts the Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting and maintains a funding database for radiology.

Educational Materials

  • Atlas of Echocardiography (Yale)
    Illustrations of anatomy and video clips of echo images are available.

  • CHORUS (Medical College of Wisconsin)
    Collaborative Hypertext of Radiology is a "quick reference" tool for physicians and medical students produced by the Medical College of Wisconsin Physicians & Clinics. It provides over 1,100 documents which describe diseases, radiological findings, differential diagnoses and related information.
  • Medshare (Harvard)
    A consortium of institutions has agreed to provide shared access to their online radiology teaching cases. This site is provided by Department of Radiology, Brigham and Women's Hospital Harvard Medical School.

  • RadiologyEducation.com
    Vetted links organized into 14 sections including radiology textbooks organized by subject; continuing education sources; and user group sections for handheld computers, residents, and medical students.
  • Three-Dimensional Anatomy of the Couinaud Liver Segments (Univ. of Iowa)
    These tutorials include patient scan protocol, traditional surgical view of liver anatomy, ultrsound correlation and other topics. Prepared by the Division of Physiologic Imaging, Department of Radiology, University of Iowa.

  • UHrad.com (UHrad)
    This site includes teaching files for CT, US, MRI, Angiography and Plain Films. Of particular note is the Women's Diagnostic Imaging Teaching Files including Ultrasound for Women's Health from Case Western Reserve University.

Journals, Newsletters, and Communications

  • E-chocardiography Journal: An Electronic Journal of Cardiac Ultrasound (UMDNJ)
    Contains medical articles and cardiac ultrasound images from the Echocardiography Laboratory of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

  • Radiology Forums (RadiologyWorkers.com)
    Home of discussion lists for over two dozen medical imaging topics.

  • RSNA Electronic Journal (RSNA)
    A free journal published by Radiological Society of North America, Inc (RSNA). There is no charge for accessing the Journal; however, users must register.
