  • Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (CDC)
    A large, searchable collection of databases, government documents, research information, and policy statements about hazardous substances. These materials reflect the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's (ATSDR) mission to prevent exposure, adverse human health effects, and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous substancesy.
  • ASHP WEB (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists)
    Professional association of the 30,000 pharmacists nationwide who practice in hospitals, HMOs and other healthcare settings.
  • Bad Bug Book (FDA)
    A digital version of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition's (CFSAN) handbook on food-borne pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses and parasites) and natural toxins. The information in the Bad Bug Book provides basic facts regarding these organisms and toxins. This information includes their characteristics, habitat or source, associated foods, infective dose, characteristic disease symptoms, complications, recent and/or major outbreaks, and any susceptible populations.
  • Electronic Orange Book: Approved Drug Products (FDA)
    With Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations. Search by active ingredient, applicant holder or application number. Includes patent owners and patent application numbers.
  • FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)
    One of the U.S.'s oldest consumer protection agencies, their mission is to regulate the safety of food, drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, or radiation emitting devices meant for usage by humans or animals. To this end this site contains programmatic information, consumer advice/fact sheets, help for those contacting or seeking information from the government, news releases, educational materials, and more.

  • IFPMA Clinical Trials Portal
    The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA) offers this one-stop search for both ongoing clinical trials and results from completed trials.
  • Indiana Prevention Resource Center (Indiana Univ.)
    A state clearinghouse for prevention, technical assistance and information about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
  • Jefferson Hospital Formulary via TJU Hospital Intranet (Requires Campus Master Network Computer or Remote Login Account)
    Including Drug Facts A-Z and a downloadable version for PDA.

  • The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, 17th edition (Merck)
    Describes the symptoms, common clinical procedures, and laboratory tests for virtually "all but the most obscure disorders." The Merck Manual also contains information about current therapies for the disorders presented and provides information about relevant clinical pharmacology.
  • MICROMEDEX Web (Off-campus access requires Jefferson Campus Key)
    MICROMEDEX Web is a family of full text databases providing clinical information in the areas of toxicology, drugs, acute care due to disease and trauma, aftercare, and reproduction.
  • Online Dictionary of Street Drug Slang (Indiana Univ.)
    A searchable list of over 3,000 street terms for drugs, prepared by the Indiana Prevention Resource Center at Indiana University.
  • Peri-Web - Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute
    In addition to information about membership and organizational structure, the site contains information about Peri-Web's extensive educational programs. Information includes course descriptions, course schedules, and curriculum paths.
  • PharmWeb (UK)
    Comprehensive information on the pharmacy profession, including directories, and other publications.
  • RxList: The Internet Drug Index (RxList)
    Contains information about drugs on the U.S. market or close to approval. The RXList's keyword search permits searching for brand names, generic names, symptoms, side effects, or drug interactions.

  • RxNorm & RxNav (NLM)
    RxNorm and its RxNav Java-based navigation system are available from the National Library of Medicine. Together, they provide standard names for clinical drugs (active ingredient + strength + dose form) and for dose forms as administered to a patient. It provides links from clinical drugs, both branded and generic, to their active ingredients, drug components (active ingredient + strength), and related brand names. NDCs (National Drug Codes) for specific drug products (where there are often many NDC codes for a single product) are linked to that product in RxNorm. RxNorm links its names to many of the drug vocabularies commonly used in pharmacy management and drug interaction software, including those of First Databank, Micromedex, MediSpan, and Multum.
  • Toxikon - The Toxikon Multimedia Project (Univ. of Illinois at Chicago)
    Features virtual toxicology cases, discussions, and links to to other toxicology links.
  • USP - United States Pharmacopeia (USP)
    The USP sets the standards for drug products and their dosage forms. It provides information on most of the drugs available in the United States and Canada. This site includes special sections for Health Care Professionals, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, and a section for Patients and Consumers.
