Brochures and Handouts
- CareNotes and DrugNotes are available in
two forms:
- Standard
CareNotes has no custom features, but is accessible from
any computer that has access to the Internet. Off-campus use requires
a Jefferson Campus Key.
Note: This version does not contain customized local TJUH notes
- MD Consult patient education materials are available in both English and Spanish, for diseases, conditions, medications, and alternative therapies. Special instructions may be included in a printout made for the patient.
Clinical Trials
- Cancer
Clinical Trials at Jefferson's Kimmel Cancer Center.
- ClinicalTrials.gov
provides over 4,000 current clinical trials sponsored by the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) in searchable form. Jefferson trials sponsored
by NIH are included. Information includes trial name and ID, sponsors,
purpose, current status, who may be eligible, where trials are being
held, whom to contact, and references to published papers that describe
findings.
Web-Based Resources
- MEDLINEplus
Health Information is a free service of the National Library
of Medicine for healthcare consumers, including health topics, directories
of healthcare providers, interactive health tutorials, drug information
from the U.S. Pharmacopeia, and a medical dictionary. Links to MEDLINE
generate automatic searches of the professional literature for specific
health topics. The ADAM medical
encyclopedia is also available.

Finder (DHHS)
The Department of Health and Human Services' gateway to consumer health
information resources produced by the federal government and its partners.
- Merck
Manual of Medical Information - Home Edition
A lay version of the authoritative Merck Manual is available in full
text. Text of the professional edition (Merck
Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, 17th Edition) is also available.
- NIH
Consumer Health Information
Includes free full-text patient education and consumer-oriented materials
produced by the member institutes of the NIH.
- Outreach
and Special Populations (NLM)
Compiled by the National Library of Medicine, these include material
in multiple languages about smoking as well as other health issues:
- EthnoMed (formerly the Twenty-Four
Languages Project) (Univ. of Utah)
Electronic access to consumer health brochures in multiple languages,
as downloadable PDFs, or sound files in a variety of formats, including immunization/vaccine information in 24 languages.

Lists government agencies, professional associations, and health organizations.
Most provide consumer health information.

NCI's home page provides both basic and advanced information, including
fact sheets, PDQ data, cancer literature, support groups, and other
consumer concerns.
- Kimmel Cancer
Center at Jefferson
Information about the Jefferson Cancer Network, clinical trials, the
tumor bank, PhD programs, staff, and news stories.
- OncoLink
(University of Pennsylvania)
A multimedia resource designed to disseminate information, educate
both professionals and consumers, and provide for collection of information
relating to oncology. Containing FAQs, clinical trials information,
conference notices and more; the site is naviagable via either a disease
or specialty oriented menu.
