Bravewell Fellowship Program
The Jefferson Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine is part of the Bravewell Collaborative, which is a foundation that funds "initiatives which are designed to bring about systematic change in the healthcare system by advancing the principles and practices of integrative medicine." For more information on the Bravewell Collaborative, visit www.bravewell.org.
One of the initiatives that the Bravewell Collaborative is funding is "fellowships combined with rigorous and supervised clinical experience in integrative medicine as a key strategy in making the 'new medicine' more widely accessible." Since the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine offers a highly respected Associate Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, it was decided by the Bravewell Collaborative to support the training of future integrative medicine practitioners through this excellent program.
Birgit Rakel, MD, is a full time Family Physician in the Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine who specializes in Women's Health. In December, 2006, she completed the Fellowship Program through the University of Arizona as a Bravewell Fellow.
