PubMed Tip: Creating and Saving Collection Lists

PubMed users can save lists of citations in their personal My NCBI accounts. Think of it as a centralized place for saving citations.

  1. Make sure you register for a My NCBI account.
  2. After you finish a search, select the citations you want to save in your personal account and send them to the Clipboard.

  1. To save citations, click on CLIPBOARD tab.

  1. Under Send to, select My NCBI Collections.

  1. Pop-up blockers may prevent the pop-up screen from appearing. When this happens, click on the My NCBI Collections link.

  1. Options include: Create a new collection or Append citations to an existing collection. Be sure to name your collection. Be specific-if it is for a grant, include the grant #, if it is for a class be sure to indicate the class. Also, be sure to select the option to Remove these citations from the clipboard when finished. Click OK.

  1. To view saved collections, click on My NCBI under PubMed Services.

  1. Citation collections can be deleted or merged.
