Paying for Permission to Reproduce: the Copyright Clearance Center Service
If what you want to use clearly exceeds the allowance for fair use,
it is usually possible to simply purchase permission. The Copyright
Clearance Center (CCC) offers a permission & fees service for both
print and electronic copies. AISR is registered with the CCC and is
Jefferson's agent for purchasing rights to reproduce materials. AISR
will place your request(s), passing the fee along to your department.
Plan to make your requests 2-4 weeks in advance of need. While most
requests can be granted immediately, the CCC sometimes needs time to
contact copyright holders to negotiate your request.
This is a request for a price/availability quotation -- NOT a final order. AISR staff will determine:
- whether the item is available via the CCC,
- how much it will cost, and
- whether permission will be immediate.
After you receive the quotation, you may choose whether to pursue the order. All confirmed orders will be billed
via interdepartmental charge code (IDC).
