Professional Organizations

  • American College of Healthcare (ACHE)
    Site of the professional society for healthcare executives. Provides information for members on the latest ACHE publications. Also includes educational programs, a career resource center, a discussion forum, and a "What's New" section to keep members informed of the organization's latest happenings.
  • American College of Medical Practice Executives (MGMA)
    "Supports and promotes the personal and professional growth of health care leaders (both physician and management executive) to work collaboratively to advance the profession of health care systems management" (from mission statement). ACMPE supports certification and Fellowship program, provides tutorials and publications for its members.
  • American Medical Specialty Organization (AMSO)
    A discussion forum for managed care and other health issues sponsored by AMSO Inc., a managed care company. Provides a point for information sharing for both professionals and interested lay people.
  • Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)
    A membership organization, MGMA provides the "1999 Geographic Practice Cost Indices for Your Practice Location." news on public policy issues, and a book of acronyms for medical practice executives.
