  • Natural Standard Jefferson only
    Evidence-based information about alternative and complementary therapies includes foods, herbs & supplements, fitness, traditional therapies, diets, and more. Medical conditions are listed, with analysis of alternative approaches. Includes a nutrition database for raw and packaged foods, interaction checker and symptom checker for differential diagnosis.
  • Agricola (National Agricultural Library)
    The National Agricultural Library's online catalog includes both book and article citations on medicinal plants.
  • CAM Citation Index (NCCAM)
    Over 180,000 bibliographic citations derived from MEDLINE are included in this database developed by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Time period covered is 1963 to present.
  • CHID
    The Combined Health Information Database is a cooperative product of several health-related federal agencies. Complementary and alternative medicine is one of CHID's 16 major topical foci. CHID has provided access to consumer-level health education materials since 1985.
  • CINAHL (Cumulative Index of Nursing & Allied Health Literature) (via Ovid)
    The major bibliographic index in the fields of nursing and allied health includes CAM topics.
  • HerbMed (Alternative Medicine Foundation)
    A free, searchable database of "scientific data underlying the use of herbs for health. It is an evidence-based information resource for professionals, researchers, and general public. HerbMed is a project of the Alternative Medicine Foundation, Inc."
  • IBIDS (NIH ODS)
    Produced by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, the International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) database covers the published scientific literature on vitamins, minerals and botanicals. It is international in scope and contains over 400,000 citations from over 1500 journals, searchable by author and keyword.
  • Native American Ethnobotany Database (Univ. of Michigan)
    Over 44,000 items on the foods, drugs, dyes and fibers used by Native North Americans, in easily searchable format. Results are citations only - no full text.
  • NIH RePORTER (NIH)
    NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool - Expenditures & Results is a database of research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and other health-related federal agencies. Complementary and alternative medicine programs are included.
  • PsycINFO (via Ovid)
    The major bibliographic index in the fields of psychology and psychiatry includes information about "mind-body connection" and other CAM topics.
  • RxList
    RxList is a free, full text drug index which includes a significant section on herbs and traditional Chinese medications.
