is an advocacy and community service organization for persons age
50 and over.
- Alliance
for Aging Research (AAR)
This private, not-for-profit science policy advocacy organization
administers funds for training and research in geriatrics.
- Alzheimer's Association
(AA)
The Association provides funds for conferences and research.
- American Federation
for Aging Research (AFAR)
AFAR promotes research activities of scientists in the field of aging
by providing funding in 10 program areas.
- American Geriatrics Society (AGS)
AGS is a not-for-profit organization of health care professionals
in the field of geriatrics. It provides monthly updates of funding
opportunities from various organizations.

Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF)
One of America's leading supporters of research on Alzheimer's Disease,
Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Heart Disease and Stroke.
- Archstone Foundation
The Archstone Foundation funds demonstration projects and programs
on aging issues with regional or national impact.
- Helen Bader Foundation
The Bader Foundation funds short-term research on Alzheimer's disease
and dementia.
- Brookdale
Foundation Group
This group, comprised of the Brookdale Foundation, Glendale Foundation
and Ramapo Trust, funds a fellowship in gerontology/geriatrics, as
well as projects to develop programs for dementia caregivers and to
improve the lives of older people.
- Commonwealth Fund
The Commonwealth Fund is a private foundation. It funds research to
improve health care practice and policy, consumer health, and care
for vulnerable populations, including elderly people.

A. Hartford Foundation
The Hartford Foundation is American's leading philanthropy with a
sustained interest in aging and health. Special interests are training
for health care professionals and integrative care.
- Retirement Research Foundation (RRF)
The RRF sponsors research and programs to improve health services
and quality of life for the elderly. Funding is available for service,
education, research and advocacy projects, especially those with the
potential to change practice, policy or delivery systems.
- Donald W. Reynolds Foundation Aging and Quality of Life
The Reynolds Foundation program focuses on improving the quality of life for America’s elderly by preparing physicians to provide better care for them when they become ill. Funding is available to support geriatrics training programs for practitioners at several levels, including curriculum planning, faculty support, development of novel training materials and techniques.
