Reference Manager : Improve Personal and Collaborative Access to Research Information through use of Personal Bibliographic Management Software

Abstract: The hands-on workshop will be presented in either or both MAC and Windows platforms depending on registration. The workshop will discuss bibliometric software in general and the issues involved in selecting the appropriate bibliographic softaware for an individual or research collaboratory.

The workshop will provide each attendee with a free Reference Manager software demo package. At the workshop, each attendee will create a personal Reference Manager bibliographic database. All attendees will learn how to enter citations manually and by downloading information from MEDLINE and Current Contents. Attendees will learn strategies for efficiently maintaining their database and its subject headings.

Attendees will learn how to retrieve items from their database and create bibliographies in multiple formats.
