The Role of the Library in Implementing Delivery of the Medical Curriculum in a Networked Environment: One University's Experience

ABSTRACT

UT Southwestern Medical Center Library's role in supporting the medical school curriculum changed from a passive to an active role this past year when its staff collaborated with the department of Pathology's experiment to deliver the pathology second year course in a networked environment. The library staff participated in this endeavor by providing staff for software consultation, computer training, and equipment to train the instructors. How UT Southwestern pathology instructors created case studies to be presented in the labs via 50 networked macintosh computers and how the library's passive role changes into a collaborative one is the subject of this paper.
