Staying abreast of the findings in healthcare is a continuing struggle. The volume of information published in a wide variety of journals presents problems of access. Locating and gathering information on a topic of interest, organizing, summarizing and interpreting it and then determining the practice implications are often overwhelming and certainly time consuming tasks. Yet these are necessary activities if practice is to be research based and research is to be built on a foundation of what has come before. This session will describe the development of an electronic journal and discuss how the Online Journal of Knowledge Synthesis for Nursing will make available synthesized knowledge in a timely fashion to guide nursing practice and research.
