Medical students at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita are issued IBM-based notebook computers, and are taught how to use these computers to access and process medical information. The presentation will describe the development of this Medical Student Informatics Project at UKSM-W. Special emphasis will be placed on the development and implementation of a telecommunications menu system, which has automated the access of medical information at area hospitals and medical databases.
