The Computer Aided Learning and Exploration System (CALE) of the University of Pittsburgh's first set of functionalities is moving a paper-based simulated patient in a PBL environment to an information system. CALE acts as a multimedia repository for case materials in PBL, manages the structured access to these documents, and give a notation to case designers.
