Academic authors of multimedia projects must eventually decide whether to publish their work through conventional publishing houses, the new multimedia companies that have grown out of the computer software industry, or whether to self-publish. This talk will describe the experiences of Yale University's Center for Advanced Instructional Media (C/AIM) in publishing a series of CD-ROM-based multimedia atlases of cardiothoracic imaging techniques.
