Some Mac users report that the current version of Write-n-Cite for Mac, v2.5, isn’t inserting citations into the Office X version of Microsoft Word. (I’ve been able to replicate that problem and see that it does work on the newer Office 2008 for Mac, which is installed in the Scott LRC.) Reverting to the older Write-n-Cite for Mac v.2 fixes the problem, but the download is no longer available from the RefWorks download page. The very helpful folks at RefWorks Support provided the file and these instructions:
- Uninstall the previous copy of WNC: with Word and Write-N-Cite closed, delete Write-N-Cite by dragging it from the applications folder to the Trash. Also delete the preferences file located at /Users/(USER NAME)/Library/Preferences/com.refworks.wncm.plist
- Download WNC 2
- Once the disk image mounts, open it, and drag the Write-N-Cite icon onto the hard disk, preferably the Applications folder.
- Eject the disk image.
- Drag Write-N-Cite to your dock to have it easily accessible at all times.
