A search engine for rare diseases is a research project from the Technical University of Denmark, DTU Informatics and the University of Copenhagen, Department of Computer Science. Documents indexed for retrieval consist of medical articles on the topic of rare diseases. As 80% of rare diseases are of genetic origin, medical articles on the topic of genetic diseases are also indexed.

Search options include: Search on rare and genetic disease resources, Restrict to rare disease resources, and Search with UMLS medical concepts.

Articles are focused on rare and genetic diseases that are freely available on the internet, e.g. Orphanet: an online rare disease and orphan drug data base, Wikipedia: Category Rare Diseases, NORD Rare Disease Database and Organizational Database, The Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center (GARD), etc.
