Welcome Jefferson Alumni!

Many of Jefferson's databases are restricted by license to current faculty, students and staff. If the database you want is not available to alumni, consider a personal subscription or use of a free alternative:

MEDLINE (and other National Library of Medicine databases) FREE

PubMed - a full and free version of MEDLINE, for journal articles
LocatorPlus - the NLM's online catalog
NLM Gateway

A few years the National Library of Medicine made available a version of MEDLINE, PubMed, free on the Internet. This version of MEDLINE includes journal article indexing formerly found in other NLM databases such as HealthSTAR and CANCERLIT. Its time range is more comprehensive than MEDLINE because it includes citations before they are indexed for MEDLINE and citations predating MEDLINE's development in 1966.

PubMED offers natural language searching that maps user terms to medical subject headings, and provides a Clinical Queries feature that limits search results to clinically-relevant articles. The link to the database from JEFFLINE pages includes a feature to indicate which articles can be found in Scott Library's print collection, which you could order through JEFFDocs service.

LocatorPlus indexes non-journal article materials previously found in NLM databases and the NLM Gateway allows simultaneous searching across these databases and others.

Document ordering:
You may order JEFFDocs articles directly from your PubMed searching by signing up for a Loansome Doc account through Scott Library.
