PubMed has a great new feature that allows users to create up to 100 collections or lists of citations that can be stored permanently. The maximum number of citations in a collection is 1,500.

Saving results to a collection is a 2 step process; results are first sent to the clipboard and then to My NCBI Collections.

1. Sign in to My NCBI if you have not already done so.

2. Run a PubMed search, and then on the results page select the items you want to save using the check boxes; if you do not select any items all results up to 500 items will be sent to the clipboard. Under the Send to Menu click Clipboard.

3. Select My NCBI Collections under the Send to menu.

4. On the Save Collection pop-up window you may create a new collection or append to an existing collection. Enter a collection name and delete the saved items from the clipboard (optional).

5. To view your saved collections, click on My NCBI under PubMed Services. Collections can be merged or deleted. To view citations click under Details.
