A few issues ago we used the Drawing toolbar to insert a block arrow type AutoShape. (Inserting an AutoShape) Another feature that you'll find on the Drawing toolbar is the 3-D Style. Although this feature can be used with many types of drawing objects, it is not as powerful as you might like. For example, applying the 3-D Style to a circle will only create a cylinder, not a sphere.
On a more positive note, I have seen some very nice illustrations created in PowerPoint. Here are the basics, so get creative with it…
Apply the 3-D Style
- Select the object to which you will apply the 3-D Style.
- If the Drawing toolbar is not visible, click on View, Toolbars, Drawing.
- Click on the 3-D Style icon and select the desired 3-D Style from the pop up box.
- Click on the 3-D Style icon again and select 3-D Style Settings. The 3-D Style Settings toolbar contains icons that allow you to change the objects rotation, color of the third dimension, lighting effects, depth, direction and type of surface.
