The University is making available an integrated software program to assist its research community in identifying the many funding opportunities available from federal and other sources.
The Jefferson research community now has access to InfoEd SPINPlus, an important tool for finding funding support. Links to the new service are available on JEFFLINE and in the Researcher Links box on Pulse. Faculty can access this resource both on and off campus.
SPINPlus consists of three services:
- SPIN, a funding opportunities database
The Sponsored Programs Information Network offers comprehensive coverage of federal, state and local government resources, international resources and private sponsors. Updated daily, SPIN includes fellowships, research grants, publication support, sabbatical support, curriculum development, and more. Output reports are customizable, and users may save an unlimited number of search strategies to be rerun automatically or on demand.
- GENIUS, an interest profile for researchers
The Global Expertise Network for Industry, Universities, and Scholars offers individuals the option of including topical keywords and descriptions of their research for discovery by potential collaborators and funders. This is an effective way for Jeffersonians to increase their own visibility, as well as to find potential collaborators at other institutions. To set up a profile, users need to set up an account - an easy procedure done online.
- SMARTS, an automated alerts system
The SPIN Matching and Research Transmittal Service notifies investigators daily about new programs that match their GENIUS profiles.
Self-described as the most widely-used funding opportunities database; Info Ed claims over 600 subscribers worldwide. Jefferson researchers will find colleagues from institutions like Johns Hopkins, Temple, University of Pennsylvania, University of Pittsburgh and many more.
Faculty development workshops (to be announced) and AISR workshops will feature InfoEd in grants information sessions. Additional individual instruction is freely available on a consultation basis from AISR's Grants Information Service at 215-503-8150 or Askalibrarian@jefferson.edu.
