Our Interlibrary Loan department is committed to enhancing service whenever possible. And now, with our new Ariel® document delivery service, article delivery has never been speedier. When you order articles from Scott Library, you can opt to receive them directly at your desktop.
How does Ariel® work?
Ariel® is an electronic document delivery service that lets you receive interlibrary loan articles via the Internet. The only tools you need to participate are a working Jefferson e-mail address, an Internet browser, and Adobe Acrobat software for downloading PDF articles.
You will continue to request articles through normal channels, either by filling in our electronic form (http://jeffline.jefferson.edu/SML/services/ILL/illarticle.html) or the paper form available at the Scott Library service desks. When you make your request, simply select “Ariel” under the “Delivery Method” option. When your article arrives, instead of picking it up or receiving it via interoffice mail, you'll receive an e-mail notification that your article is ready for viewing.
That message will provide instructions for retrieving your article from our Ariel® server with your e-mail address and PIN (provided in the body of the e-mail message). Once logged in, simply click the link in your article queue to download your article in PDF format.
If you have several articles available, each will be viewable from the login page using your e-mail/PIN combination. This e-mail address and PIN combination will be the same for all future ILL orders you place with us. For your convenience, you will be reminded of your e-mail/PIN combination with every notification e-mail. Each article will be available for 5 downloads or two weeks, whichever comes first.
Who's eligible for Ariel® service?
This service is available to all eligible Jeffersonians.
What are the costs?
Jefferson and affiliated employees:
Patrons must use an interdepartmental charge code (IDC) as their method of payment. Users are welcome to vary the IDC numbers they use for payment (for instance, attributing orders to different grants).
Jefferson students:
Students receive 10 Interlibrary Loan requests without charge per academic year, September through August. Thereafter, charges accrue at the normal rate of $5 per item. Requests in excess of 10 must be paid for in cash at the Circulation Desk before they are processed.
