Dissertations can provide additional perspective for your research and writing, but locating a full-text dissertation can be difficult.
Scott Memorial Library houses dissertations produced by students in Jefferson programs. These are shelved on the fourth floor of the Library under the call number: W 4.
To browse the Jefferson dissertations electronically, use the Call Number Browse search feature in ThomCat:

When a dissertation is not available at Scott Memorial Library it may be ordered directly online from UMI (University Microfilms).
UMI offers two options for searching dissertations: Dissertation Express and ProQuest Digital Dissertations.
The database can be searched by author and/or title.

To order full-text dissertations, use Dissertation Express. Each dissertation can be charged to your credit card for $36. It takes 4-5 days for the dissertation to be mailed Dissertation titles prior to 1980 may take a few extra days.
