New Name for Ovid’s PREMEDLINE Database

In September 2003 Ovid is changing the name of the PREMEDLINE database to MEDLINE In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations.

This new database will include records that are “in-process,” and temporarily reside in the database until they are indexed (i.e., assigned MeSH headings).

In fact, the contents of this new database will include both in-process MEDLINE records and some records that will never be indexed and included in MEDLINE. This database is a good starting point to search newly published articles that have not been indexed.

MEDLINE In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations will appear immediately after MEDLINE in the suite of OVID databases. The primary impact of the name change will be the substitution of MEDLINE In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations for PREMEDLINE wherever the database name appears within the Ovid interface.
