Academic Information Services and Research (AISR) proudly announces that Thomas Jefferson University has officially joined BioMed Central as an institutional member.
As an institutional member Jefferson researchers may submit, at no charge, manuscripts for publication. The $500 submission fee per article is waived.
BioMed Central is an independent publishing house committed to providing immediate free access to peer-reviewed biomedical research. All original research articles published in BioMed Central journals are immediately and permanently available online--without charge or any other barriers to access.
BioMed Central is committed to ensuring efficient and effective quality control through full and stringent peer review. All research articles and most other content in BioMed Central's journals are fully and rapidly peer-reviewed.
The benefits to publishing in BioMed Central journals include:
- Online peer-review means average decision times are 4-10 weeks.
- Articles are published the day they are accepted for publication.
- Track how many times your article has been downloaded.
- High quality articles are promoted by e-mailing selected groups of people working in the same field.
- Preliminary studies show that, on average, open access articles are more highly cited than those that require paid access.
- Some of BioMed Central's journals are citation-tracked by ISI and many are indexed by other services.
BioMed Central publishes a wide variety of journals and other services. Included among the many journals published is the group of online BMC journals, which cover the whole of biology and medicine, as well as many other online or online/print journals, including Journal of Biology, Genome Biology and Arthritis Research & Therapy.
Authors who publish original research articles in journals published by BioMed Central retain copyright over their work. This secures their "moral right" to protect the integrity of their work and to have the full work referenced whenever all or part of it is reproduced. By publishing their research articles in a journal published by BioMed Central, authors agree to allow free and unrestricted non-commercial use of the work by others.
BioMed Central supports PubMed Central and other digital repositories, as well as encouraging self-archiving by authors. All research articles published by BioMed Central are archived without delay in PubMed Central, and are also included in PubMed. This means that all articles are permanently accessible and conveniently searchable.
European, South American, African, Asian and over 50 US medical institutions are institutional members. Submit your manuscript to BioMed Central now - and save $500. AISR encourages you take advantage of our membership and the many benefits it offers.
