Plans to begin charging a fee for printing and photocopying in the Edison LRC have been under way for over a year. The facilities have been prepared, and the time has arrived to implement the change in the policy that will bring the Edison LRC in line with Scott Library and the other universities in the Philadelphia area. The number of abandoned and wasted prints left in the Edison LRC has grown to a staggering volume. Instituting a "pay for printing" policy assigns a value to what is actually being printed, thereby making a better computing environment for everyone.
Beginning March 17, 2003, laser printing and photocopying will cost $0.10 per page and will be payable using the same Vendacard that is used in Scott Library. Vendacards will be needed for all purchases in the Edison LRC including floppy disks and other supplies.
Vendacards may be purchased in one of two places:
- Edison LRC. A new vending machine has been installed that dispenses Vendacards. LRC staff members will be glad to show you how to use the machine, which accepts dollar bills. New cards cost $1.00 and come with $0.50 worth of value. Value may be added to Vendacards using the same vending machine using dollar bills. This machine does not give change, so please be careful when you add value to your card.
- Scott Library. Vendacards may be purchased at the Circulation Desk, 2nd floor SML.
Please note, vendacards are non-refundable.
Instructions will be posted to help make the process of printing documents from popular programs such as Word, Excel, and PDF more efficient.
The LRC staff is also available to assist you and can give you tips on how to maximize your printing and save you money.
