PDA Tips:
Creating an Electronic Business Card

While it has been estimated that one in five physicians owns a PDA, busy professionals are often unable to invest much time learning how make the most effective use of this tool. Over the next several months we plan to offer quick tips to help make your PDA more than just an electronic date book and phone directory.

Creating a PDA business card*

  • Tap on the phone icon then select New to create an entry.
  • Enter your name, office address, phone number(s), email address and fax number.
  • Tap on the Menu and choose Select Business Card.
  • You will be asked if you want the entry to be your business card.
  • Tap YES.

You are now ready to beam your business card to your colleagues who own PDAs!

Sharing your PDA business card

Method 1: The easiest way to beam your business card is to press and hold the phone icon while pointing your PDA towards the recipient’s PDA.

Method 2: Select your business card entry, tap the drop-down menu, then tap on Beam Business Card.

Just think of the day when everyone will own a PDA and you'll no longer have to carry paper business cards.

*These directions, developed on a Treo 90 Handspring running version 4.1 of the Palm operating system, may vary slightly for other PDA models.
