Complex documents such as résumés, flyers, outlines, and reports often contain sections of text with completely different formatting. You can apply many separate font and paragraph formats in one step. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint have a button that will instantly copy the formatting from one section of text and apply it to another. The format painter button, on the standard toolbar, copies the format from selected text and applies it to your next selection.
Because the format painter copies formats, your first text block must be formatted manually. The Education heading below is formatted as 12-point Arial Black and is centered on the line. We want to use the same formatting for the line we just typed: Health Care Experience. It's simple to reapply that format.
The format painter button is on the standard toolbar:
First, highlight the text that has the format you want to use. Be sure to highlight the non-printing paragraph mark after the text, which may not be visible, but will highlight:
Second, push the button:
Third, highlight the text you want to format. Again, be sure to highlight the paragraph mark at the end of your text:
You're done!
