If you missed the popular PBS teleconferences on distance learning that were presented on campus earlier this school year, or if you attended and would like a refresher, videotapes of the three conferences are now available in the Scott Library Learning Resources Center. The VHS tapes may be checked out for three days using your Jefferson ID.
The videos from the series Instructional Technology Survival Skills include:
- Program 1: Surviving and Thriving your First On-Line Course
(Call Number: LC 5803 .C65 S963 2001)
- Program 2: Using Information Technology in a Traditional Classroom
(Call Number: LB 1028.5 U85 2001)
- Program 3: Improving Multimedia and Online Courses with Instructional Design
(Call Number: LB 1028.38 I34 2002)
Although faculty members were the primary audience for the teleconferences, these programs are also relevant for administrators, technical staff, and other others interested instructional technology.
Among the topics covered in the teleconference videos are:
- Using information technology creatively and effectively
- Understanding the basic principles of instructional design
- Minimizing the problems and meeting the challenges of bringing a course online
- Developing "hybrid" courses, combining classroom instruction with online learning
