Sync-ing with iMacs

Jeffersonians with PalmOS handhelds and USB cradles may now sync to the four iMacs in the Scott Library LRC. Installation of files is now much faster than with the LRC's IR interface.

To utilize this service, patrons must first set up an account on the iMac with the assistance of the LRC staff. After a brief configuration, the user is ready to install their own files or other content. Files to install can be downloaded from the Internet or installed from disk.

To utilize this service, the user must bring their own USB cradle. Those without cradles, or who wish to use PalmOS applications with third-party conduits, can use our Windows based IR interface. Conduits such as AvantGo will be added when they are released for the iMac.

The LRC currently supports only installation of PalmOS files. As the Palm Desktop is not a secure environment we do not recommend using our public computers for backing up one's handheld.
