The National Library of Medicine, in collaboration with Office of the Surgeon General, has created a new website for all reports issued by the US Public Health Service's Office of the Surgeon General.
This new site, which makes some 70 digitized reports public, includes official reports, conference and workshop reports, and proceedings from the Office of the Surgeon General beginning with the landmark 1964 Report on Smoking and Health. All documents are available in PDF format for viewing, printing, or downloading.
In addition to alphabetical and chronological listings of documents, the site also includes a sophisticated full text search engine.
An Exhibit section focuses on the history of the reports and highlights the major initiatives (including Smoking, Secondary Smoking, AIDS and Disease Prevention) of the Surgeon General's Office since 1964.
