The easiest method to search for journal titles in OVID is to use the journal icon on the tool bar.
After clicking on the journal icon the next step is to enter the name of the journal in the search box. If the journal title includes the word 'and', however, the results may be confusing since AND has a special meaning as a Boolean operator when searching the suite of OVID databases.
For example, if you search for the journal title Genes and Development as follows,
the database returns this list of options which does not include the desired title:
This problem can be solved by substituting the ampersand symbol (&) for the word 'and' when entering the journal title:
The title now appears as the first option in the results list.
Remember, when searching journals with 'and' in the title, such as
- Genes and Development
- Digestive Diseases and Sciences
- Administration and Policy in Mental Health
- Child Psychiatry and Human Development
type the ampersand symbol (&) in place of the word 'and'.
