JEFFLINE's List of
All Databases Gets a Facelift

The List of All Databases now offers the same easy alphabetical list and keyword search options as JEFFLINE's electronic journals pages. No more frames or confusing icons to decipher! Search by:

  • all or part of the database name
  • a publisher
  • or a keyword that might appear in the database description

Or, browse the collection with descriptions in easy paragraph format. Now, you can even print out the entire list.

New databases have been added to the list, as well. Many are freely available on the Internet, but are easier to find through JEFFLINE's list. Some of the highlights include:

AgeLine

Produced by the AARP, AgeLine contains over 60,000 summaries of books, research reports, articles, and videos on hundreds of topics related to life after 50, older adults and aging. Its references come from the gerontology section of the AARP's Research Information Center, as well as selected articles from 300 English-language magazines and journals from many countries.

Orange Book: Approved Drug Products With Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations

The products in this list have been approved under section 505 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and the Orange Book is published by the FDA. Information is updated to coincide with the monthly supplements and annual edition. The Orange Book is searchable by active ingredient, proprietary name, application number and applicant holder. Contents include over-the-counter drugs, prescription drugs, and discontinued drug products.

PEDro

PEDro, the Physiotherapy Evidence Database, includes bibliographic details and abstracts of randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews in physiotherapy, from the 1950s to present. Access points include keyword, body part, therapy, method, score, and subdiscipline. PEDro is produced by the Centre for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy (CEBP).

National Guideline Clearinghouse

The NGC is a comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related documents, including: structured abstracts (summaries) about the guideline and its development; a utility for comparing attributes of two or more guidelines in a side-by-side comparison; syntheses of guidelines covering similar topics, highlighting areas of similarity and difference; links to full-text guidelines, where available, and/or ordering information for print copies; an electronic forum, NGC-L, for exchanging information on clinical practice guidelines, their development, implementation and use; and annotated bibliographies on guideline development methodology, implementation, and use. The NGC is produced by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, American Medical Association and American Association of Health Plans.

Scott Memorial Library staff will be adding more databases to the list in the future -- look for features in future Forum articles. We'd love to have feedback, too, on databases you would like to see included. If your favorite isn't on the list, send a message to the JEFFLINE Editor.
