The newest JEFFSelects module deals with the field of Chemistry. This resource is designed to be a starting point for locating reliable and reputable chemistry Web sites. Many of the resources available in this JEFFSelects module link to additional resources.
JEFFSelects: Chemistry is divided into the following eight categories:
- Major Subject Gateways
- Educational Resources
- Databases
- Dictionaries, Abbreviations & Acronyms
- Organizations, Associations & Professional Societies
- Periodic Tables
- Structure Viewing
Although this module is not meant to be a comprehensive chemistry resource, each section is designed to help answer your basic chemistry questions. The Major Subject Gateways are sites that take you to more comprehensive chemistry information sites. The Education Resources page includes Web sites designed as chemistry teaching aids and tutorials. Many of the Databases allow you to locate general information on chemical properties.
Dictionaries, Abbreviations & Acronyms covers the basics of chemical terminology. Even though there are only four Periodic Tables listed, each has been selected for its unique characteristics. The Structure Viewing page links to sites for acquiring software to display chemical structure.
The JEFFSelects: Chemistry module should help you find basic information for specific elements or chemicals, but you should be aware that there are many other web resources out there waiting to be discovered. Furthermore, don't forget about the print resources available in the Scott Memorial Library, most of which can be found through THOMCAT.
If you have any suggestions for adding resources to the JEFFSelects: Chemistry module, please fell free to e-mail your suggestions.
