ScienceDirect Three Article Formats
ScienceDirect delivers articles in three different formats: Article Summary (Summary Plus), HTML (article) and PDF.
  1. Summary Plus
The article summary or Summary Plus is a special article related item in HTML format that offers the following:
    • Bibliographic details (e.g., article, title, authors, volume, issue and journal title)
    • Article abstract
    • Image and graphics that appear in the article
    • The list of clickable citations and references with links to cited articles and/or abstracts

  2. Article The HTML full article is full-text searchable and holds clickable citations/references and article images.

  3. PDF The PDF (portable document format) of the full article is the scanned image from the print version of the journal.

The Summary Plus format was introduced in 1997 for articles available in HTML format. Therefore, articles produced prior to that year or available in only PDF do not offer this feature, but they do display bibliographic details plus abstracts. The Summary Plus is an effective feature to help evaluate an article's content.

Jefferson subscribes to the full text of over 100 journals in the biomedical and life sciences, from 1995 to theÊpresent in most cases. The tables of contents for several hundred titles in other fields are available, as well. Choose individual issue access, search the Jefferson subscriptions, or search the entire collection. Access is limited to TJU students, staff, faculty and qualified member subscribers.
