On July 1, MD Consult is launching a redesigned of its popular clinical web site. All the resources you know and use are still there, but buttons, paths and colors are changing. Below are some of the changes that you will notice with the new design.
Once you login you will see a 'What's New' screen. This is similar to the old 'What's Inside'. It contains the latest additions and newest stories in MD Consult.
'Explore Our Features' describes the broad range of clinical content found in MD Consult.
The Navigation Bar
The new navigation bar allows you to locate specific content areas and content topics. The main content areas are: Home, Clinical Knowledge, News & Reports, Patient Handouts, and Professional Services.
Clinical Knowledge now contains most of the old Answers section: Reference Books, Journal Search, Practice Guidelines, and Drug Information.
News & Reports now contains the old Updates section: Today in Medicine, What Patients are Reading, In This Weeks Journals, Clinical Topic Tours, and Drug Updates.
Patient Handouts is now its own section, emphasizing its importance. You still have access to over 3000 printable handouts that you can customize by adding you own notes, patient instructions, and contact information.
The new Professional Services section contains the CME Center and Case of the Week. The CME Center provides hundreds of level 1 CME modules online. Test your clinical reasoning skills in the Case of the Week.
Searching in MD Consult
Click 'New Search' for a pop up box to enter phrases and select the area you want to search.
More search options are available, including an advanced journal search feature. The new design lets you see both your query and your results on the same page.
Personal Folder
The Personal Folder has been changed to My Profile. Use My Profile to enter preferences or change your password.
New Flagship Information Service
Finally, you'll notice a new name for the overall service: MD Consult "Core Collection". The 'Core Collection' contains all the same respected content and services you've used in MD Consult previously. The new name will allow MD Consult to differentiate between this service and other new products now under development.
