The LRC recently received 30 new Dell Optiplex GX110s which were placed in the LRC classroom. These new computers are top of the line Windows 2000 PCs, with Pentium III processors and 100 MB zip drives. Our version of Office 2000 is downward compatible with Office 97, so you won't have a problem creating an Office document here and taking it someplace else that has at least Windows 95 & Office 97 to finish it.
Of the 30 PCs that were in the classroom, 15 went over to our JAH lab (311 JAH) and replaced the outdated Macintosh computers that we had there. The room has also been cleaned and a stand-alone Laser Printer workstation was moved to 311 JAH to support your printing needs.
The remaining 15 PCs have been moved to the 4th floor of Scott and replaced outdated Macintosh computers there. These Hewlett Packard PCs were recently upgraded to 96 MB of memory and they have Office 97 installed so you'll now be able to use Word, Excel & PowerPoint in more places than you were before.
I invite you to stop by and try out our 2 computer labs. The Jefferson community has been asking for "bigger, better, faster, more" computers and I'm proud to say we have delivered.
