The American Federation for Aging Research is a key source for funds for aging research. AFAR administers--working with pharmaceutical companies and private foundations--ten grant programs a year, providing medical students and scientists with over $9.2 million in research funding.
National Institute on Aging is the NIH institute, which is devoted to improving the health of older people. NIA's research program covers a broad range of areas, from the study of basic cellular changes with age to the examination of the biomedical, social, and behavioral aspects of age-related conditions, including Alzheimer's disease.
